Party!

What a great party - I was well ready to party after all the organising that took place - it was so funny the looks i got whilst going down the track dressed as a cat planting posters, balloons and lanterns for people who did not know the way.

The great thing was nearly every adult got dressed up which was sooooo cool. My mulled wine went down very well indeed and i certainly knew about it this morning. The barn was cracking and we even managed to get a glow in the dark skeleton sat in the TVR lol the kids absolutely S**t themselves. S had a great idea to have a beer fridge in the barn for ease lol and we stoked up the BBQ to keep the mulled wine warm and chilli/curry hot (by the way Ledbun the curry went down a treat). The party games went down well with kids and adults alike and the whole evening was just great. There has been a request for this to be an annual event only a separate one for adult as some had to go a little early which i think is a great idea.

I can't actually remember getting to bed lol but i know it was very very late and very very happy.

This morning i woke and remembered I had to look after E and J which was fun! not...

The fish nearly came to a bad end. My mate C popped in to see me as couldnt get last night and whilst i was making coffee and chatting i got a message from E saying the stones were on the floor. When I went to go and investigate J had completely emptied fishy on the floor, over my wooden chest and a bit on the stereo - I of course lost it as i could not see Fishy and J was chewing - good job C was there to tell me to go in the kitchen and fill the bowl with water - just in case!. It took a while but we finally found him under the chest and got to him just in time and looking incredibly limp. By this time i was in tears lol (over a bloody fish!) good job C kept head on ones shoulder lol - anyway fishy soon recovered - good job fish only have a memory of three seconds!.

Early night i think but may force myself to have a glass of vino lol x

Curry made - have to say that when Ledbum said he got out the biggest pot in the world he was not lying - i couldnt fit mine in my big one and believe me it is a big one!

Blonde or Brunette? You Decide

I was sat in a board meeting today being very bored and decided to people watch. Out of 9 women there 8 were blonde (I was brunette) - is it just a case of blonde's are more popular? Maybe men prefer blondes? Maybe I should try being blonde for a spell?

Forgotten Room

I decided to do a little DIY tonight and so I could get a better idea (or try and do a repair discreetly) i decided to venture into the under eves storage area! Good idea or bad? - you decide...

I got half way down - never needed to go that far before - got the approximate area where i needed to be - only could not get to it due to it being boxed off! Puzzled I persisted to find out that it was kind of a very small room or cupboard - fully wall papered and everything - not accessible from my side i have to add - how strange is that?

Needless to say it put the willies up me - i finished what i needed to do and im now about to try and forget about the little cupboard. Next door have a kinda dis-used nursery in their attic area (which they use as an attic) so im guessing it was part of that when the house was divided all hickledy pickeldy in the 1800's.

Anyway time for a glass of wine i think!

Full Moon

If anyone is interested there is a beautiful full moon tonight - or is that me being an old romantic lol - ah well you can take the girl out of the romance but you can't take the romance out of the girl :)

Just One Of Those Days!

Boy its a bit chilly today - nice - but chilly.

Had to keep the old feline variety in today as I was notified of a hunt passing by - which it did! needless to say if anyone wants a cat just let me know - they can be really annoying at times.

My internet connection is driving me nuts also today as it keeps freezing then chucking me off line hmmm, I think if it wasn't for work purposes I would ditch AOL and go for something else!

Anyway time for more work then off christmas shopping tonight (don't ask i'm being taxi for my mum - being the good dutiful daughter I am).

Tomorrow evening and Friday will be dedicated to Ledbum's curry and pumpkin carving - think the curry will be on the menu for Saturday as well as chilli so it had better be good J! x

Started to day great - managed to bribe E for a 9.30am lie in due to Beauty and the Beast borrowed from next door on DVD - pure bliss.

Shopping this morning was a ball - even the woman on the check out at asda asked if i was having a party tee hee - managed to pick up another pumpkin bringing the total to 4 now (may be trying ledbums curry to get rid of some of it - can you freeze it?).

For those interested here is my recipe for mulled wine (party quantities):

Four bottles of red wine
One bottle of brandy (can use port but brandy gives a better kick)
24 tbsp soft light brown sugar
4 cinnamon sticks
3 lemons sliced
2 oranges whole studded with cloves
(lemon slices to serve optional)

Put all ingrediants in pan (except brandy) and heat until sugar disolved. Cover pan and leave to stand for 5 mins to let flavours infuse. You can strain if you really want too but i dont bother - add brandy and serve warm.

This is very pontent but absolutely bloody gorgeous.

This afternoon because it was such a lovely day me and E spent time outside - me clearing out the back and E retreiving everything i was chucking out because they were so important to a 2 and a half year old! I have come to the conclusion that i hate spinders - especially the great big hairy ones!

Skiing Solo!

Boy do I ache today - I tell you what skiing recreational for two hours is lots more taxing than a one hour lesson - I don't think you appreciate how much standing around you do in a lesson compared to the full on skiing of just for fun - and that is certainly what it was - fun! At least I didnt stop the poma lift this time but it did take me nearly two hours to realise how you are supposed to do it properly as opposed to luck of the draw! I ended up base over apex once and was so glad J didnt abandon me it was just so embarrassing - I'm sure I slowed J down loads but have to say i did scare myself a couple of times when I let loose. A couple of games bowling after food was loads of fun and I managed to hold my own in the first game - I think by the second game I was totally exhausted (my excuse anyway). Journey home was slightly hairy due to flood warning and driving into a mad storm with fork lightening - all very beautiful - but not on your own driving! All in all yet another great day.

Been sorting out Halloween party stuff today - I had a request for my mulled wine again! - S said its like witches brew - meaning that its very easy to chuck down your neck and has a bit of a reputation ot make you forget what your doing lol. Should be fun, food plans are looking good with chilli for adults and a selection of spooky food for kids (and aldults no doubt). We have decided to stick loads of balloons at the end of the track with some attractions for people who have not been up on our mountain before and to kick start the evening. So far I have three pumpkins to decorate but think it might be nice to have more to leave them at strategic places so people know where they are coming. All in all a top night planned.

So tonight along with aching muscles i didnt realise i had (arms taken a battering - maybe thats with using poles for the first time?)im just gonna chill out and have an early night - shopping for more halloween stuff tomorrow.

Had a good time last night although head a little sore this morning :)

Heard from a good mate yesterday after about 2 years which was nice - L you are still as mad as ever lol join the club. And was great to catch up - seems its been a week of catching up with good buddies and great mates.

So this morning me and S cleared out the barn ready for the Halloween party next Saturday, managed to get the boat outside and covered to protect it but the TVR is still stuck in the corner - sure it will make a good climbing frame for the kids tee hee (joke). We covered the floor with the hay bail we nicked last year from the farmers field (don't ask - another moment of madness) and sorted out all the decorations - its gonna be really good and I feel like a big kid getting all excited. I cleared some of the cobwebs down but thought some looked quite good and with it being halloween i thought ah well (that and the size of the bloody spiders guarding them sort of put me off lol).

Now its time to get some decorating done and then a nice long sleep before skiing tomorrow yay.

Blind Leading the Blind

So been to Uni - why does this always happen! The Uni have decided to use Dreamweaver but none of ths taff are trained in it so its the blind leading the blind and we are testing out the manual which so far has been completely useless - I even taught the tutor things (lucky guesses).

So on the way home because i didnt have time for tea before i left I have picked up a curry mmmmmm and a bottle of wine even more mmmmmm and im loving it :)

One Month and Two Days!

Wow isn't fishy doing well?

Trees are horizontal today!

Bloody hell how windy is it today? Even E refused to go outside and i had to bribe her to get her to go to the car herself. And she asked for the DVD volume up this morning because of the noise of the wind battering the house lol.

Sorted out one box of paperwork last night which was mighty boring but mighty essential due to paperwork being neglected for about a year and B popping up on Monday (B by the way is mate and also financial wizz who sorted out mortgage etc - He is great so if anyone is looking for a mortgage etc he's your man, e-mail me and I'll pass on his details). So anyway only one more box to to which I was gonna do Friday night however I have had a better offer so assuming things don't go pear shaped its time to get out and have a drink since E is off to her dad's tonight.

Saturday will be fun im determined to get the rest of the paper off the walls in the attic room and sand the remaining beams - was gonna sort out downstair but since S has not been in touch i'm assumming work will start there early next week now!

Sunday is hopefully skiing again woohoo - I need to get my recreational time in (or so I've been advised before taking level 5 lesson however I'm sure they just say that to get more money out of you - i'm a great believer in the more you do it the better you become (at some things anyway does not apply to all!).

So Uni again tonight then early(ish) night i think since paperwork last night resulted in late night yet again!

Still Alive ... Just

Useful hint - I got out the bath tonight and had put the bath mats in the wash and forgot to put the spare ones out - For those who have a tiled bathroom floor this is not a good idea as wet feet and tiles (even the anti slip ones) do not mix - it was so funny one foot in the bath and me on the floor!!!!

Today was good but managed to upset yet another person. I had arranged to have a night out with D on Friday on route to Scotland ages ago - well when I say arranged I mean it was mentioned and I was apparently supposed to confirm this - for those who know my memory this is not going to happen - so Friday came and went I found out today from D who I think was slightly pissed off - I did ask the question as to whether D rang to remind me!!! the answer was now - so no more needs to be said - hopefully we'll sort another date out soon lol.

I did however hear from K today who I've not heard from since last summer - so good to catch up and hopefully a night out in Darlington when back up for Christmas - either that or a night out around Surrey sometime sounds ok - nice surprise all the same and a lengthy telephone conversation - only problem is when I was on the phone E found out how to open the flap on the video and ran through to tell me the fish had gone in there!!! Panicking I ran to see if fishy was still alive to find out that it was not actually fishy but a pretend one from her fishing game - thank god for fishy - not for the video and I then spent the rest of the afternoon with her magnetic fishing rod in the video trying to get it out! Didn't happen but I think it may still work! Any ideas anyone?

Apart from the above a visit to the supermarket and loads of stuff for Halloween sorted - found a massive blow up couldron with witches legs - about three feet high - which I thought would make a great slime container for one of the games ive invented.

By the way D - throw the scrabble book out lol (qat?)

Holy Island - Hic

Woke up this morning absolutely full of beans and thought I gotta get out for the day lol - went and got my mum to give her a nice treat and me E and mum decided to go an a magical mystery tour - ended up taking the Northumberland coastal route (when I finally got on the right road an hour later!) and headed off up to holy Island. Managed to get there for lunch (should take only about 2 hours)and had a real nice mooch around. Then went a made sandcastles of course decorated with shells and headed off back home stopping in Seahouses for the obligatory fish and chips lol.

Got back about 8pm so E got another late night so another lie in for me tomorrow yay - 9am this morning I was amazed and so happy since I could not sleep last night and was reading a book in bed at 1.30 am this morning.

I managed to put my foot in it (again) with two people today lol - I'm doing well so far what with the weekend and now this week and please believe me when I say I really am not usually like this - I think it had something to do with PMT (WHICH I DON'T BLOODY SUFFER FROM - lol that was a joke in case you missed it lol). Anyway I think I'm just going through a daft stage!

DIY Surprises!

Ok so just to give you a little background so you don't think I live in a hovel! - My house was build in 1840 and used to be the mine owners house/offices - (that needs explained over pint!). The mine was closed in the 1920's and then in the 80's the houses were rennovated (got to say very badly hence the reason for work now).

So moved in and sorted out the bathroom (hey I'm a woman) then the living room, my room and Em's room. On the third floor I have an attick room spanning to whole of the house - currently being sorted, along with the landing, stairs etc. Problem with the wall at the bottom of the stairs but thats being sorted at the end of the coming week beginning of next then I can finally finish the stairs and landing!

The biggest project is the kitchen - last year i was well pissed off one day (men no doubt) and decided to bash down a wall!!! Dont worry I have the plans its not load bearing lol. So I have a rather big kitchen, I have beams for the partition where the wall used to be which D and S should be delivering soon so I can treat them, and am getting the floor sorted out before christmas - the whole purpose of telling you this is because today I was looking after a two year old and a one year old and even managed to strip the chimney breast wall :) good achievement I thought! oh and after paying for new sockets to be put in the kitchen since I only had one socket! I have also just discovered where the others are hidden - who on earth thought of this - fit sockets on the wall - then completely cover them with units so the only way you would know they are there are if yuo pull out every single drawer and look behind? You go figure the ex owner (no comment) did not tell me this along with the fact that that he was completely mad and completely severed the telephone wires so I had to pay for new ones to be fitted along with the ariel which I thought bugger this and got sky instead - oh and just to top it off the mad man was banned from keeping animals after keeping pigs and goats on the paddock and miss treating them - and yes I know its an offence but I have found the remains of one of the pigs burried up there - not any longer I gotta add that was soon removed! saying all this the house is coming along a treat considereing time and funds but it is gonna be lovely when done lol!

Busy!

Had quite a busy day today - it was S and R's joint birthday swim party so me and E went. It was really cool actually at Hambleton Leisure Centre, Northallerton, it had a massive slide, wave machine (bloody hell thay can be strong) and loads of fountains and stuff. E had such a good time to the day turned into evening and I was also looking after S and R For the night and just really got back about half an hour ago so knackered.

For those who are wondering about my blog last night, I was right and I can be such an idiot at times! and to whom it does concern I am very sorry.

Think I've done something tonight - or rather sent an e-mail i may live to regret. Should never have a drink of wine I always tell the truth.

Singing in the Car!

On the way to work this morning I came to some traffic lights and as a good law biding citizen I glanced in my rear view mirror to see the guy in the car behind me (who looked curiously like a rabbit) singing his head off lol, it was amusing then to realise that he must be listening to the same radio station to me as his lip syncing was actually quite good lol. Then of course it was like the fly and light syndrome where you can't help glancing just to make sure and sure enough every song that came on he was there lip syncing perfectly lol. This made me laugh and I had a massive grin on my face all the way to work - imagine how I felt when I got to work and thought bloody hell if the person in front of me was looking in their rear view mirror then they would have had a mad grinning person behind them all the way into town hmmmmmm - At least I don't look like a mad rabbit (I don't think so anyway).

Tonsilectomy and Heamorroidectomy

The title seemed to be the order of the conference today with lots of nice demonstrations yukky! That and the early start yesterday followed by activity and they early start today I found it mighty hard to concentrate hmmm Very tired now.

As well as that I have now been getting chucked on and off line for about an hour now and i'm getting well cheesed off. I can't even get MSN started for some reason and i'm thinking its a problem with the server as opposed to me but if anyone thinks any different then i would appreciate knowing so give me a call as it is sooo annoying me at the moment.

Fiona Style Triathalon

Had lesson 4 skiing today and for some reason the nerves had returned which i experienced on lesson one hmmm, maybe the early start and no J threre for support but these things happen. Bloody hell it looks high when you are on the top of the slope but by the end of the lesson i had relaxed and was back on form (so to speak) and even sneaked in an extra run when the ski instructor wasnt watching :)

As I had no other plans I decided to call in on D and S on the way back home and ended up horse riding with B, recording some stuff for W and generally hanging out with H. It was a good day but how many people can say that they Skied morning and laid down some tracks and horse rode in the afternoon - thats what I call triathalon Fiona style lol.

Off to Mums tonight for a sleepover and another early start taking her to the station for her hols in the morning and I'm actually working bugger! so to speak I'm up at the Stadium of Light tomorrow but at least I get Friday off instead yay.

Sore Toe!

So I stubbed my toe this morning ouch - not done that in ages! The reason I did was because E was watching Balamory and its a new series with loads of different songs on which i've not heard - I can't believe i'm talking about a programme a 2 year old watches - whats worse is that I had a whole dicussion with K the other day about the fact that PC Plum and Archie the Inventor both flirt with Miss Hooley and vie for her attention - hmmm i think i need to get a life in terms of my tv scheduling.

By the way thanks P for the 2am wake up call - I don't care if you are in Prague having the time of your life! Did i really need to know about your escapades in a place of ill repute fulfilling M's ambition lol??!!! I'm sure I'll get the pics on your return lol.

Well E safely packed off to her fathers and me being the kind sister I am have agreed to babysit for J and A tonight (mug), out tomorrow night then skiing on Sunday :)

Uni tonighat and it was actually on! Had an alright time actually need to design a web site hmmm may be asking for tips lol - anyway loads of ideas so who knows.

Heard from my mate A today great to hear from her and maybe a night out on Saturday woo hooo :)

Just so you know who i am 

For some reason I'm feeling really emotional today but then again that does not really surprise me given its coming up to that time of year again. I have music on the PC playing in shuffle order (cheers J), which is great but every now and then, just for fun, it chucks in a tune which was one of my dad's fav's, its such a strange emotion to feel so happy and sad at the same time and not be able to reason or do anything about it, i miss him so much.

I've taken THE week off work to just chill and have some fun and support mum etc, four years seems so long in some respects but not in others! So if anyone has any ideas for the first week in November let me know! I'm having a Halloween Party on the 31st and doing the barn up accordingly of course but the weekend after no plans at all.

On to more cheerier notes I rescued fishy again last night from a lollipop this time - that fish is doing so well and I think E now knows fish don't eat human food!

Pot Pincher

For anyone worried i'm feeling much better now thanks lol - I had loads of sleep last night and even got a nap this afternoon which was good apart from i am not tired now!

Been to night class tonight (Pottery) and really cheesed off that someone has done a runner with my work from last term :( Its not as if I'm a great potter or anything so whoever you are I hope you are enjoying your rustic bowls and look on the bloody bottom they have my stamp! Anyway 4 more done tonight to add to my collection although I have to say I did get rather dirty on the wheel tonight and looked like I'd actually had a mud bath. For those who don't know its a great hobby to take up to vent frustration.

Heard from S last night and had a real good conversation - what was supposed to be a 10 min conv ran to over an hour however it was real good to catch up and hopefully see you soon.

Booked my next ski lesson today for Sunday - a bit earlier int eh day than usual but it was the only time I could get - either that or real late and I'm working on Monday (for a change!) and have to be in Sunderland before 9am so need an early start. All the same looking forward to it and hopefully a bit of company!

Not Feeling Too Good

Sniffle sniffle - E woke me last night crying with a terrible cough and wetting the bed which she has not done in ages and ages but she is under the weather, as it was late i decided I was not going to make the bed up again and as I have a king size bed thought what the hell she can come in with me for one night - bad idea - how can a two and a half year old take up so much space - she aso takes after me and talks in her sleep - something about playing with her dolls house last night! I was feeling a bit crap myself and not too good today so early night for me - if anyone wants to come round and make me tea or give TLC go for it lol (the perrils of being single is that you don'thave anyone to look after you when you feel really crap!).

Cleaning Windows

When i went downstairs this morning I noticed the cobwebs on the front window (outside) and thought I gotta clean them - only thing is i hate cleaning windows (not tall enough anyway) and how the hell do i get cobwebs when it gets so windy up here? Anyway I reasoned with myself and came to the conclusion that with it being Halloween this month the effect is actually quite good! Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

I also had E and my sisters little one and a half year old today and that was way enough to deal with believe me.

I think i'm coming down with a bit of cold at the mo with stuffy nose etc but thats what you get for burning the candle at both ends I guess - but having a hell of a lot of fun whilst doing so I must add - can't wait for the next on line Kareoke session! sooooooooooooooooo funny.

I always seem to get the fuzzy end of the lolly pop

An old film but Some like it Hot really cracks me up when i'm in the mood. I love Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis tring to pass themselves off as women with a love story thrown in - pure chick flick lol. It was on Film Four which incidentally for those like me who do not subscribe to it - its free all weekend!
